"SALT" is a unique vessel - custom designed and executed to accomplish a level of cruising to which many of us aspire, but very few of actually accomplish. She is a fast proven offshore passage-maker with an easy handling and versatile cutter-ketch rig. Her shallow draft center-board design enables her to gunk hole in the remotest of coves. Her composite hull is extraordinarily strong. Her sex appeal is salty.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Queen sized double berth in the enclosed forward cabin sleeps two. Single settee berth to port sleeps one and pull-out double to starboard in the main salon sleeps two. A large quarter berth aft to starboard sleeps one.

FORWARD CABIN: Double berth; Shelves with stowage beneath; Two hanging lockers. Large work counter aft to starboard, generous stowage underneath;

FORWARD HEAD: Located to port; Shower with sump; Lavac manual marine toilet with direct overboard discharge; can be plumbed to holding tank.

MAIN SALON: Straight settees port and starboard divided by centerboard trunk; Water and fuel tanks beneath settees; Storage lockers and shelving outboard of both settees; Drop leaf table mounted on port side of trunk; Combination chart table/small dinette located to starboard;

AFT HEAD: Located to port at foot of companionway; Lavac manual marine toilet with LectraSan Type 1 treatment system; Y-valve for direct overboard discharge;

NAV STATION: Electronic and navigation gear mounted on shelves outboard of the chart table, opposite the galley. Knot meter and depth sounder in the cockpit, wiring run for GPS and RADAR.

GALLEY: Located to starboard with centerline double stainless steel sinks on large center island with generous counter space; Fresh and salt water foot pumps; Shipmate propane three burner stove with broiler and oven; Sea Frost engine driven cold-plate refrigeration in a large icebox; Shore powered (110v) refrigeration system, including a second cold plate added in 6/2002. Outboard of the counter is stowage for food and dishes. Abundant storage compartments for food and dishes.

INTERIOR FEATURES & APPOINTMENTS: Cabin sole is painted lightweight cored panels, Formica counter tops; Bulkheads are varnished ash veneer over marine ply. Varnished black walnut trim; Semi-gloss white Formica headliner punctuated by laminated ash deck beams; Brass 12v light fixtures include seven dome lights, two shaded bulbs and ten spotlights. Four of the dome lights are red/white for night use.

ON DECK: Laminated teak bow sprit forward serves as anchoring platform; Twin 12" bronze cleats port & starboard on the bow, amid ships and stern; Closed cast bronze fairlead fittings in bulwarks at all cleat locations; Stainless steel bow and stern pulpits at the bow and stern; 1" Stainless steel lifeline stanchions with gates port and starboard; 3/16" 1x19 stainless steel wire life lines with Sta-lock terminals. Six teak dorade boxes with bronze cowl vents; Five Lewmar hatches on foredeck and cabin top. Grab rails on cabin top and deck house. Forward of the cockpit, on the cabin top, is a cold-molded pilothouse with opening forward windows.

GROUND TACKLE: 44 lb. Bruce carried on the port bow roller w/ 15 ft length of 3/8" galvanized chain & 250' length of 5/8" three strand nylon rode; 45 lb. CQR on the starboard bow roller w/ 300 ft 3/8" galvanized chain stowed in a dedicated locker; Ideal electric ACWH vertical windlass with rope drum and chain gypsy - mounted on the cabin top aft of the main mast. Aft location keeps weight of the chain out of the bow. The chain is run aft on deck through stainless guides and stowed in dedicated locker under the windlass via an integral bronze hawse is built into the base. Power supply wiring is "0" battery cable run from the dedicated windlass battery.

IN THE COCKPIT: Bimini with stainless frame at the aft end of the cockpit over the wheel; Two self draining lockers under the port aft side deck. The forward contains two 20 lb. aluminum propane bottles, regulator and Marinetics solenoid switches. Aft locker is a 3.5 cubic foot insulated icebox.

SPARS & RIGGING: Cutter rigged Ketch; Painted carbon fiber/S glass composite masts; Painted aluminum booms; Triple spreader main spar stayed with 5/16" and 3/8" stainless 1x19 wire; All wire terminals are Sta-Locks; Free standing mizzen; All halyards and sail controls are led to the cockpit; Harken roller furling (6/02) for head sails;

SAILS: Full battened main (6/02) and mizzen; 110% Genoa, Working jib (6'02); Hank on staysail, storm staysail, mizzen staysail; Cruising spinnaker;

AUXILIARY DIESEL: Westerbeke 40hp, 4 cylinder, FWC, (Model 40) located under the center galley counter; Excellent access provided by two removable panels on each side; Hurth transmission; 1 1/4" stainless steel shaft; P.S.S. dripless shaft seal; Three blade bronze 18" Max Prop; Side by side 500FG Racor fuel filters with vacuum gauges & water sensors;

TANKAGE: Fuel tanks are fire retardant FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) located under the settees - 25 gallons each; Two FRP 50 gal water tanks under main salon settees. Whale foot pumps in each head and at galley sinks.

PLUMBING: Marine sanitation system includes two Lavac marine toilets; Aft toilet is plumbed to a Lectra-San treatment system, Forward toilet discharges overboard (for use offshore). Space is available to install a holding tank forward if desired. Manual fresh water foot pumps at galley and head sinks; Sink drains in galley and both heads drain overboard via thru-hull fittings. Shower pan drains directly overboard via manual Whale pump; Rule 1750 electric bilge pump with an automatic float switch in the bilge. Two Edson manual bronze diaphragm pumps, one in the bilge and one flush mounted in the cockpit.

AC-DC ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS: 110v AC and 12v DC systems - both with distribution panels; Two engine alternators; Total of 4 batteries: Engine start battery and dedicated windless batteries are 8D gel-cells; Two 8D gel-cell batteries for house service in boxes against the centerboard trunk.
50 ft shore power cord; 125v 30 amp weather protected shore power connector at the front of the cockpit. AC distribution panel has one 2 pole main breaker and 5 branch breakers; Heart Interface 2000 watt inverter/charger;

NAVIGATION & ELECTRONICS: Two Danforth 6" Constellation compasses, at helm and nav station; Hummingbird LC20 VHF radio: ICOM 735 Ham/SSB with AH2 tuner; Icom 700 Marine SSB with AT 140 tuner; Signet SL267 knot meter - distance log: Interphase Probe forward looking SONAR depth sounder; Autohelm ST 50 displays for depth sounder, distance log and knot meter;

CONSTRUCTION: Hull is cold molded composite with two 1/8" double diagonal layers of fir, WEST epoxy laminated inside and out over 1" Duracore strips; Hull thickness is approx 2"; The shape of the hull is traditional with a graceful sheer and just enough bow sprit to provide a good anchor handling platform. The topsides and decks are faired and painted with Awlgrip. The deck surface is light gray with non-skid areas outlined by waterways; Topsides are Stars and Stripes blue. Full length bulwarks with 4" teak caprail; 1- 3/4" stainless and urethane rub- rail below the sheer; Keel stepped carbon fiber main mast with stainless standing wire shrouds; Free standing mizzen stepped on keel;

UNDERBODY: "Whale belly" profile; With the board up greatest depth is amidships at 2'6", draft is 8' 0" with the board down; The rudder is a steel reinforced FRP blade attached to 2 1/4" stainless shaft;

CENTERBOARD: The elliptical "high lift" 2500 # centerboard retracts completely inside a structural trunk located amidships inside the vessel. The board is hoisted on a four-part tackle mounted in the trunk. The tackle line is led to the electric windlass for easy lifting; A secondary backup lead is provided to the mainsheet winch;

STEERING SYSTEM: Lunenberg Foundries rack and pinion steering system with stainless wheel is at the aft end of the cockpit. Skeg hung rudder is a steel reinforced FRP blade attached to 2 1/4" stainless shaft.

MISCELLANEOUS: Winslow 10-man life raft; Assorted lines, fenders etc; Assorted Life jackets; Misc USCG required safety gear;
